Iris Apfel sure is very charming and very much alive at the age of 90.
I just stumbled upon this article with her:

“Getting older ain’t for sissies, I’ll tell you. It’s very funny. I have a dear friend whose mother’s gone, but she was very funny. When I’d say ‘Yuda, how do you feel?’ she’d say, ‘Oh—when I get up in the morning, everything I have two of, one hurts’. You have to push yourself when you’re older, because it’s very easy to fall into the trap. You start to fall apart—you just have to do your best to paste yourself together. I think doing things and being active is very important. When your mind is busy, you don’t hurt so much. Thank God I love to do things. I feel blessed that I have all these opportunities at this stage in my life. I was always very busy with all kinds of stuff, and I’m very used to it—but at ninety, I have all these new careers—a makeup collection with MAC, working on glasses for Eye-Bobs, I’m on Home Shopping and on YOOX, and I do a big program with the fashion school at the University of Texas at Austin—they made me a professor.

He looks slightly odd now, a bit too Noel Gallagher, but I'm sure it will be just fine in a few days time.

Charlotte Torpegaard is the beauty expert behind the 'Yummi Mummy' book (COMING SOON)

I'm not really into those sort of 'be-the-perfect-mother-and-the-sexiest-lover' books!!
There are thousands of those kind of disillusioning books out there trying to complicate and 'Barbiefy' the stressful time in your life when your kids are small.
Lets face it - it's not the best time in your life to start lap dancing classes, have eyelash extension sessions every other week or have regular pedicure treatments even if some of these books are trying to make you believe it will be the best thing you have ever done.. IT'S NOT!
There are far more important (and less expensive and time consuming) things to do when your kids are small and need you the most!
GRRRRR..! Don't get me started on this foolish superficial subject..
The nonsense I have read in some of these so called cute girly 'mother to mother' books is UNBELIEVABLE!

Right.. -now back to the actual content of this blog post..

The book 'Yummi Mummy' is actually on my wish list (it's not out yet but you can sign up using the link below) because I find Charlotte Torpegaard mature, and wise and detailed when it comes to her research of beauty products and treatments AND she has a little boy herself so hopefully there will be no silly 'over the top ' advises in the book.

Mark and I went on a date at the 'sister restaurant' of Era Ora the other night and it was DELICIOUS!
L'Altro is a smaller two floor Italian restaurant located in the cozy Christianshavn.
The interior wasn't particular inviting but the food and the wines were amazing and the service very friendly.

One for a face serum and the other one for their lip balm. I can't wait to start using the organic lip balm on my dry winter lips - Hmm.. I wonder which smell to go for..? There are so many inviting little pots to choose from. I will order one of these pretty little vintage looking pots today from LOVE LULA and let you all know what I think once it has been use for a few weeks.
The lip balm is available at The Urban Outfitters shop in Copenhagen.

OKAY... the lip balm is now tested and I'm not impressed.!
I would any day choose the Rosebud lip balm over this one.

MY EVENING SNACK

I find that when I'm pregnant I wake up every night during my sleep terribly hungry, which is quite annoying since it is not easy getting any rest at all with a big baby bump blocking the way of a comfortable sleeping position.
But I have now found a cure and it works wonders!
I was recommended this evening treat by a very talented nutritionist. It is good for the immune system, keeping the blood sugar level calm and the little sour berries are full of iron and the banana full of calcium. (VERY important when you are pregnant!)
This is what I've had as my evening snack every night since New Years and I don't wake up hungry during night anymore. JUHUUUU...
2 dl of Løgismose Skyr (it's a neutral youghurt from Iceland) a handful of red currants and half of a banana.
The combination is NOT very tasty, it is quite sour but I feel VERY healthy and I sleep like a baby.

We went to Lanzerote last year in February - it was the perfect time of year to leave Copenhagen and enjoy the sun somewhere else in the world. This year around there is no nice sunny holiday awaiting us because of my growing baby bump.. We just have to cross our fingers that the sun will stop by Copenhagen for a bit of winter sun and get the most out of it at home..

But looking at these photos I must admit I miss the hot sunny weather, no make up, blond hair, lazy days by the swimming pool, tanned skin and spending 24 hours a day with my little family not having to worry about anything but ordering the next soft drink :-)

Arhh.. These little seal puppies have been separated from their mothers because of a fierce storm that is raging out side Holland's coast at the moment, some of them are so small they still have their umbilical cords attached. The stormy weather brutally tear the little ones away.. How heart breaking..

Luckily a lot of good hearted volunteers have started a 'nursery' for the puppies where they feed them and make sure they get a good start in life before they are released back into the sea when they are strong enough to take care of them selves..

MY NEW BEAUTY REMEDIES

When I was pregnant with Herbert I didn't take very good care of my skin so I ended up with a very dry, tired skin full of tiny red 'spider veins' that I had to pay a fortune to have removed with laser surgery afterwards.
This time around I'm almost obsessed with my beauty regime and it is really showing.
My skin looks healthy and I have only had a few burst veins so far.

The AMAZING Decléor skin products are definitely working wonders on my skin.
My new serum 'Aromessence Angélique' leaves my skin moist and glowing and the night creme ' Aroma Night' makes me wake up with the softest skin every morning.

I was given this nice little book about the goodness of dogs by a fellow dogs admirer.
The drawings are delicate and the text calm and positive.

I can't wait to dig in to this Jacqueline Kennedy book!

My husband started teaching earlier on this year and he is now doing a shorter degree in Pedagogy.

He has HUGH piles of books lying around the flat and I can't help by stick my nose into some of them.

This one discusses the complexity of teaching, VERY interesting reading.

Ulla Terkelsen is a famous Danish TV reporter who has had an interesting life covering breaking news from all over the world for more than 40 years. I find the writing of the book a bit messy but the message is clear and inspiring. She sure has seen the world..

It's not heavy stuff dominating my reading list this month since my pregnancy hormones are making me cry about almost everything these days!

Can't wait to get the little Huxi out and go back to normal..

See this is a clever idea!
A 27 years old trés chic German lady, Roberta Benteler, has created a concept e-store where each designer has a 'shop in a shop' at the well designed platform 'Avenue 32'
The purpose of Avenue 32 is to combine the charm of a small boutique and the service of a multi-brand store online. I must say I was terribly happy to see the Lara Bohnic shop :-)
The store is quite new so I will be waiting patiently to see what brands the store will hold in the nearest future..

It simply doesn't work that way in Copenhagen, going out is often planned days if not weeks in advance..!
London has got thousands and thousands of tasty places where you can enjoy spices from all over the world. UHMMMM....
The lovely Gabby aka Le Fork is one to know.
She is very particular about standards and has spent many years 'eating her way' through London and other parts of the UK. Luckily she has now decided to create a blog about all the delicious meals she enjoys.

THE BEST SEAMSTRESS IN COPENHAGEN

As before mentioned I ordered quite a bit of organic textiles from Fabric Worm in the beginning of December. The textiles arrived and they were to die for pretty :-)
Im NOT a good sewer myself so scared that I might ruin the quite expensive fabrics I decided to find someone who could help me turn the textiles into pillows and bed linens.
Some of the products were meant to be Christmas presents so I was in a bit of a hurry..
I have had many different people sewing the MisseMai pillows for the last 7 years and it is not an easy job finding someone reliable.
But BOY... was I in for a nice surprise.
My dear friend Julie (a talented jeweller who is terrible picky about details!) recommended a girl called Sofie Legarth from the company Petite Legarth.
I got in contact with Sofie 10 days before Christmas and asked her if it was possible for her to make 4 sets of bed linen and 2 pillow cases within a week, and she came back with a positive response and some very fair prices.
I gave her the fabrics and a short description of my wishes and a week later I picked up some very neatly sewn pillows and 4 sets of bed linen. I was VERY impressed, she is without any doubt the best seamstress I have come across in Copenhagen.
Sofie makes a smaller range of children's products herself (see photos above) - do have a browse at her web site Petite Legarth.

CREATIVE SPACE

Herbert and I went to this fantastic little place on Gammel Kongevej in Copenhagen, a few days before Christmas.
The place is called 'Creative Space'.
The concept is simple; you book a table a few weeks in advance - the place is quite busy - once your table is free you choose between all the pretty ceramic products in the shop, pick the shades of paint you wish to decorate the ceramic with (Herbert choose a great deal of his favorite color ORANGE!) and then you let your children paint.
I must admit I was a bit nervous..!
But Herbert who is a very active 2 1/2 years old boy was painting for nearly an hour, and he LOVED it.
We even painted his little foot and made foot prints on the mug he was painting for his Uncle Jason.

The ceramic is very nicely shaped, the colors of the paints are beautiful so you will get a nice result no matter what.
We were suppose to give all the stuff away as Christmas presents but we all liked it so much that we ended up with most of the ceramic ourselves.

I can highly recommend this place.

H&M already has its next designer collaboration lined up: Marni.

Im VERY excited as Marni is one of my favorite labels :-)

The collection, which encompasses womenswear, menswear, jewelry, shoes, bags, and scarves, hits H&M stores and online sale on the 8th of March.

I hope it's worth the wait..

“I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favorite pieces in signature fabrics and prints," explains Consuelo Castiglioni. "As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colors, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic adding sporty utilitarian elements.”

Im thinking about taking up knitting.
My mum was an amazing knitter when I was little and I LOVED the stuff she made for me.

There are so many good beginners books out there so I will start by putting this one on my wish list for Christmas, hoping Santa will stop by and that my mum will set up a help line in case I mess up the yarns..

FOR THE CHRISTMAS TREE

We had our first Christmas tree last year and it was a great success.
My mum was nice enough to let me borrow a lot of her pretty old decorations for the tree (THANK YOU MUM).. stuff like that is terribly expensive..
I decided to start my own collection of Christmas decorations last year.
I will buy a few wonderful pieces every year and in time I will have my own box full of pretty objects for the tree. Last year I bought 3 beautiful vintage glass balls and this year I will buy a couple of these pretty ceramic mushrooms by Pi Bjørg.
